After landing a high-paying job at HSBC right out of university—earning as much as a 40-year-old when I was just 22—I realised the approach I used wasn’t something common. And after testing it successfully with my clients who didn’t have the “formal” experience for those roles, I broke it down into a repeatable process I call FORMAL.

Sessions 1 & 2:

Removing The Emotional “Baggage”

(Additional practice sessions can be added if new fears or negative emotions arise later in the process.)

When you go through difficult events such as failure to secure a job or low confidence, you often create an identity to cope with it – e.g. “hurt or disappointed employee” along with it limiting beliefs and fears – which then holds you back. In 2 sessions, you’ll learn how to remove identities that keep you stuck with associated negative emotions.

For example, we’ll work on releasing fears – e.g. “the grass won’t be greener” – and any other negative emotions about changing jobs, companies, or industries, so you can regain trust and confidence in yourself.

This is a tool you can use for the rest of your life, whenever negative events happen. Session 2 can be done immediately after Session 1 or whenever something comes up that’s holding you back.

Prep required:
1.5 hours to go through some resources and best practices.

Session 3

Strategy

In this session, we’ll start by defining your Work Purpose so you work towards something you care about.

“Working hard for something we don’t care about is called stress; working hard for something we love is called passion.”

You’ll develop a clearer understanding of the skills that you have and need while building your own Career Development Profile to help you go from a Work Purpose to a fulfilling and successful career beyond your next job – think of it as a Career GPS that tells you where you are and what you should be focusing on next in your career at least 2-3 steps ahead.

Having mapped out your skills, and knowing exactly what you will target next, you can have the security of a short-term plan while also having the clarity of a longer-term career vision and strategy.

Prep required: 

1.5 – 2 hrs to complete several exercises related to the skills and experience you have and need, and your current vision of your career. The questions you don’t have clarity over will be covered during the coaching session.

Sessions 4 to 10

Showcase Your Strengths in Your Marketing Materials, Secure Interviews, and Land at Least 2 Job Offers

In these sessions, you’ll get hands-on support to rebrand yourself and your marketing materials (CV, LinkedIn, Portfolio, etc.), as well as create a pipeline of job opportunities—whether advertised or not. (80% of jobs aren’t advertised online).

You’ll get support in finding the right companies, testing the culture, booking interviews, and acing those interviews.

You’ll get time to practice these interviews with Silviu until you feel totally comfortable, confident, and in the flow, enjoying your time speaking to them and demonstrating your competence.

In these sessions, you’ll also understand practically how to gain insights into what the culture of the next team and company is, to ensure the culture is aligned with your values and ethics.

Finally, we’ll do mock negotiations to learn to ask for a package in line with the benefits you bring to the company.

Prep required: 

~1.5 – 2hrs . Before each session, you’ll receive best practices, ask you to implement them to the best of your abilities, polish and perfect the marketing materials, interview technique, and negotiation during the coaching sessions.
